In the Acid Era, one of the more widespread religions is known as Alkalism. Alkalism, spread after the Collapse by the Prophet Alkali, preaches a message of "returning to the land" and "harmony with nature", and, in return, God will reward you with a place in paradise. Most people interpret this as a "don't do evil if it can be avoided" message, but some take it to an extreme. The zealots of the Alkali Order have a rather more literal interpretation, having decided that mankind should be wipised out - the work of the Collapse should be finished entirely that the world may be reborn anew as a new paradise.
